Welcome

This site represents my personal journey into astrophotography (ap).

If you are also interested in ap, I suggest you join an astronomy forum or a local astronomy group or society where you will get more practical & detailed advice than I could hope to deliver however, you may have run up against some of the same issues that I will / have encountered so there may be some information on this site that could help you in your own journey.

My philosophy regarding ap is to create images of the night sky that people can relate to. This pretty much means that my images should appear how you expect to see them or how you imagine they might look if you could see them, when you look at the night sky, i.e. white or coloured objects contrasting against a dark background.

I am a long term Linux user and maximise my use of open-source software.

Sunspots, using an Optolong cpl filter. This filter blocks some of the red and yellow spectrum. It is intended to be used as a light pollution filter, but can be used for whatever you like!
